This registry tweak will allow you to set the percentage rate that an administrative alert should be sent regarding low hard drive space.
Caution:
Incorrectly editing the registry may render your system inoperable - requiring the re-installation of Windows.
Editing the Registry:
Open the Registry Editor (RegEdit.exe).
Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to:
System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ lanmanserver \ parameters
In the right pane of RegEdit, right-click on DiskSpaceThreshold and select Modify from the drop-down menu.
Note: If DiskSpaceThreshold does not exist:
Create it by right-clicking in the right pane of the registry editor and select New\DWORD Value from the drop-down menu.
Rename New Value #1 that is created to DiskSpaceThreshold and press enter - then follow the instruction given above in step 3.
In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box change the value that is in the "Value Data" section to the required value (between 0 and 99).
Click OK button.
Exit the Registry Editor (RegEdit.exe).
The change to the registry is reflected the next time the system is rebooted.
Restoring the Registry Setting:
To re-enable the option, open RegEdit and open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to:
System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ lanmanserver \ parameters
Change the DiskSpaceThreshold value to: 10 and reboot the system.
